How Would You Write A Thesis Statement Answering This Essay Question?

I have to write a six page essay, i need a good thesis statement. Here is the question.
Write and eassy in which you explain how karl marx would respond to the following questions: What is the nature and goal of human life? What are the obstacles that stand in the way of achieving this goal? How can these obstacles be overcome? How does knowledge of the contexts within which he lived help us to better understand his thought?
10 points to the best answer. Could i just re-word it and re-state the question?

  2. Marx was a Materialist — history was the result of class struggle over the ‘means of production’ or Capital. He was the ‘reverse’ of of Hegel who was an idelaist– that history was moving toward truth due to sturggles of the mind ( you should get extra marks for mentioning this).
So basically the purpose of human life is to achieve material success through class struggle. The obstacles are not having Capital and thus not having the ‘profit’ that is gained from the application of labor to capital ( basically when a worker works in a factory he gets paid, but he actually produces a profit from his labor which goes to the owners of the factory).
The obstacles can be overcome by the workers getting the ‘means of production’ or capital — ie workers forming unions that will own the factories where they work.
Marx lived during the Industrial Revolution where there were milions of poor lower class workers , so it was an extreme example of differrent classes of workers/capitialists.
Good luck. Check Wiki as well.

  3. My advice: Keep it simple, but generalize the whole question.
    For example:
Karl Marx, nineteenth century philosopher, is often called the father of communism because he had very strong beliefs about our society and human life.
I was once told to make the introduction paragraph like an upside-down pyramid. Keep it very general at the beginning, and slowly get more specific. Therefore, I would suggest using a very broad thesis statement like the one i suggested.
    GOOD LUCK!

  4. A thesis statement should include your answer to at least some of the above questions. The thesis should state what you’re attempting to show; therefore it can’t simply restate your questions.
    For instance:
Karl Marx believed the goal of human life was for mankind to achieve economic success, and that to accomplish that goal capitalism throughout the world must be replaced by communism.
I offer the above only as a suggestion. I don’t know what your particular thesis will show. You will have to write that.

  5. I surfaced the web that relates to your questions. Develop your own thesis. Don’t confuse topic and thesis. You may consider using “Theories of Karl Marx” or “Karl Marx Theory Social Change” or “Marxism” . I aso taken liberty of listing some cites to assist you preparing your essay.
